Customer-specific developments

OPTOLUTION efficiently implements your specific requirements!

As a small, dedicated and skilled team, we can realize your requirements for laser optical flow measurement technology quickly and competently. We very often rely on consumer electronics from the DIY and maker community and from (drone and ROV) model making, 3D printing (FDM and SLS) and milled composite materials. For the optical components, we like to use standard parts from Thorlabs, Edmund Optics and Qioptiq. When developing the required electronics and software, we benefit from our experience with various microcontrollers (AtXmega, Teensy, ESP32, ...) and use ready-made, tried-and-tested components from the maker scene wherever possible. For us, developing and producing individual items is normal. Talk to us, we will find an uncomplicated solution!

Underwater PIV using our cost effective PIV components

Design of a 2D2C underwater PIV system. This system uses proven ROV components from the maker scene in which our extremely compact 5 W laser diode PIV systems and the compatible cameras are installed. This principle is freely scalable and customizable with additional cameras for stereo PIV and our 40 W laser.

Shadowgraphy lens setup with industrial camera

A very compact, bright LED was combined with a collimating lens and our LED driver and synchronizer. The camera and lens system was selected according to the project requirements. Two of these systems were built for the customer.

The automatic trolley of the Jatznick Samendarre

The originally manually operated trolley (draisine) of the Jatznick Samendarre was renovated and equipped with an additional electric drive. Various sensors (GPS, lidars, ultrasonic sensors and cameras) and extensive safety measures (e.g. underride protection on all sides, magnetic coupling and various warning devices) allow driverless, automatic operation. Visitors can now ride the trolley manually to the starting point of a nature trail and then return it automatically to transport the next visitors. The trolley can be controlled on site or via a web interface. The TÜV Süd operating license is available for all operating modes of the trolley.

OPTOpipe - Tool for determining the internal geometry of pipes

A new type of laser-optical measuring device allows the internal geometry of large coated pipes (e.g. cement-lined drinking water pipes, DN 400 - 1200) to be measured. For this purpose, a movable mirror system is inserted through a small hole, with which the inner surfaces of the pipe are scanned by a laser and a camera. The measurements are carried out according to the principle of triangulation. The system automatically calibrates itself during the measurement of the pipe wall, regardless of the refractive index of the fluid.

The measuring device developed by OPTOLUTION allows the non-contact measurement of filled and pressurized pipes with high accuracy (e.g. for DN 400 with an uncertainty of less than 0.2 %, k = 2). It is used, for example, for the laser-optical on-site calibration of large volumetric flow meters (VOK).
